Welcome to Lakewood Youth!
Thank you for your interest in Youth Ministries at Lakewood UMC! Our goal is to provide a safe place for our present and future church (our youth!) to grow in fellowship through learning and sharing their love for Jesus, our community, each other and themselves. We have lots of events and programs to plug into. You’ll find more information below. I hope you’ll join us!
-Max Hilgendorf, Director of Youth Ministries
Our mission is to become the living light of Christ by listening, learning and sharing our story through serving our community.
Our vision is to be an open fellowship of young disciples on a mission to change the world for Jesus Christ.
Click here to learn more about our 1922 Challenge. It’s our youth investment challenge to help more of our youth and their guests attend all of our programming and events. Our goal is to make it FREE for all students, but at the very least, to help offset the expense to be more inclusive and help our program grow.
APPLIED LIGHT
APPLIED LIGHT is BACK - in a “light” way. Wednesday Nights from 6-7:15pm, we meet in the Youth Room for a couple studies. The options are below-
Middle School - Inside Out •Learning to live out our faith from the inside out!
High School - The Return of Jesus: Revelation •Diving deeper into the book of Revelation!
Don’t see an option that works for you? Contact Kat and we’ll see what we can do!
Sunday Story Circle
Our Sunday Story Circle will be using the Bible study The Story: Getting to the Heart of God’s Story. This study takes us completely through the the Bible, reading the text like a novel, sweeping you into the lives of characters. And like any good story, The Story is filled with intrigue, drama, conflict, romance, and redemption. This is a full year study! However, we will make adjustments when necessary. This group will not be a large one, but rather a smaller more personable group of our youth. This is a GREAT opportunity for our youth to dive into the Bible and grow in their relationship with God. Sundays
Sunday Morning Youth L.I.F.E. Groups
Sunday Mornings we gather in the youth space at 10am. We have a devotional and share our highs and lows from our week as well as something we’re thankful for. We share together a love feast consisting of donuts and juice to remind us that Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for us and we should look to Him and give thanks and praise in all circumstances.
SNL: Sunday Night Live is the Lakewood Youth "Main Event," Middle Schoolers meet at 5-6pm, all grades (6th-12th) meet at 6-6:30pm for Snack Supper and our High Schoolers meet at 6:30-7:30pm. At SNL, we all get to spend time with our friends as well as varied experiences and fun events. Check our calendar to see what’s coming up!
Events and Trips
Lakewood Youth Events include Youth Week, Sr. High Revive, Flashlight Tag, Photo Scavenger Hunt, Catacombs, Summer Day Trips, and much much more! We always participate in OMP - Ozark Mission Project camps, and during spring break our youth have the opportunity to take a mission trip to places like St. Louis, Chicago and New Orleans. We alternate our spring break years between mission trips and a ski trip to Winter Park, Colorado! We create many “mini missions” throughout the year in an effort to expand the light of Jesus Christ and grow in our own awareness, love and grace in the process.
Our Arkansas Conference Council on Youth Ministries (ACCYM) hosts many activities to connect youth from all over the state, giving them a chance to embrace the larger community of believers. ACCYM events including Junior and Senior High Assembly, the Methodist Family Health Bright Night, Refuge, and Veritas (the largest gathering of Methodist Youth in the state with over 1,200 youth in attendance).
