The United Methodist Women (UMW)
Our UMW is a supportive, inclusive Christian organization where women grow spiritually and develop as leaders. They serve and work to create a world in which all women, children, and youth thrive. UMW is celebrated as the women’s ministry of the United Methodist Church.
The purpose of this community of women is
- To know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ;
- To develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and
- To expand participation in the global ministries of the church.
Besides nurturing one another in the community, UMW members support U.S. and international projects which improve the lives of women, children, and youth.They do this with their prayers, volunteering and advocacy efforts, and financial gifts.
Any woman who commits herself to the purpose of UMW can join. There is no age limit, and one does not have to be a member of the UMC.
Local UMW Service Projects:
Some of the projects we support include Our House, Union Rescue Mission, Broadway Bridge Project, School Backpack project (7th Street Elementary School), Gardner Memorial UMC Food Pantry, Ozark Mission Project, Stork Ministry, Camp Aldersgate, and MIWATCH. These projects are in addition to the many national and international missions dispersed by the national UMW office.
