Position: Director of Communications

Description: Lakewood United Methodist Church seeks a part-time Director of Communications (average 25 hours/week). Lakewood UMC is a vibrant church in North Little Rock, AR, with multiple worship services and numerous opportunities for discipleship and service. The ideal candidate will work well with Lakewood UMC/s staff and congregation as a team player, to assist in the communication work of the church, exhibit a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and is self-motivated.

Qualifications and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and manage all communications materials (mass emails, print newsletters, bulletins, brochures, social media, digital signage and worship graphics)

  • Manage and design the church website for effective communication with the community and church members

  • Produce video presentation/image magnification for weekly worship

  • Create graphics for worship, social media, email and print

  • Assist in the creation of audio and video content.

  • Develop a brand voice and maintain brand integrity across all platforms.

  • Create publicity in local news outlets through media releases

  • Track engagement across various platforms and make data-driven decisions

  • Exhibit proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, cloud-based database software (ChMS), email applications, social media, Pro Presenter, and graphic design applications.

  • Have skills with various office equipment, including telephone systems, copiers and printers

  • Demonstrate excellent face-to-face email and telephone communications

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related field is required

  • Three years of experience is preferred

  • Established media relations is a plus.

Competitive compensation will be commensurate with experience and education.

Position: Chancel Choir Intern

Description: Lakewood United Methodist Church seeks a part-time choir intern (average 3-4 hours/week). Lakewood UMC is a vibrant church in North Little Rock, AR, with multiple worship services and numerous opportunities for discipleship. The ideal candidate will work well with Lakewood UMC staff and congregation, and be a team player in assisting with various choral music ministry duties. Candidates should possess a strong work ethic, an energetic personality and self-motivation. The choir intern uses musical gifts and talents to assist in leading and lifting the congregation in worship and praise in various settings in alignment with the overall vision and mission of the church.

Qualifications:

  • Love for Christ and working with others

  • Ability to exercise initiative and judgment as an independent worker

  • Excellent communication abilities

  • Ability to read music or quickly learn a vocal part

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Serve as a choir member in the Classic Service and special worship services

  • Attend all rehearsals and services in which the choir participates

  • Uphold all policies of the church, especially those related to music ministries

  • Occasionally lead the chancel choir at rehearsals and during services
