A columbarium is the modern form of the small country church cemetery we remember... a peaceful and comforting place, nestling a permanent community of believers.
LocationThe Columbarium Garden is located at 1922 Topf Road in North Little Rock, Arkansas, on the grounds of Lakewood United Methodist Church in the beautiful, historic Lakewood neighborhood.

The Memorial GardenThe Lakewood United Methodist Church Columbarium Garden is a spacious brick-walled plaza surrounding a garden with benches. Water cascades into a large fountain, reminding us of our baptisms and providing a pleasant backdrop of sound. A large, 8-foot, concrete cross sits directly in line with the "old rugged cross" inside Lakewood United Methodist Church's Sanctuary. The inner walls are lined with black granite niches.
The walls hold 160 burial niches, the garden nestles 46 in-ground spaces, and the Memorial Wall holds plaques in memory of those buried or interred elsewhere. The Columbarium Garden is handicap accessible. |
Services
In all respects, an interment service in the Columbarium Garden carries the same grace and dignity as burial in a cemetery. A short service, based on liturgy from the United Methodist Book of Worship, is always held upon interment. A clergy member presides and uses prayers and scriptures the basis of the service.
Eligibility
All persons are eligible for the internment of ashes in the columbarium. It is within the discretion of the Columbarium Board to deny interment to any person.
Costs
The cost of a single niche, urn, and the engraved niche cover is $1,500, or $2,500 for two urns placed in the same niche. In-ground single occupancy locations are $900. Engraved name plates for those who are buried or interred elsewhere can be placed on the Memorial Wall in their memory and are $250.
Management
The Columbarium Garden is a self-sufficient ministry governed by a separate seven-member elected church board, with all funds held in account by Lakewood United Methodist Church.
